Clarification: Trademark Infringement Suit against Viacom withdrawn

Images from here and here In this tidbit, we blogged about a local Court in Gurgaon granting an ex-parte interim injunction against Viacom 18 Pvt Ltd., restraining them from using the trademark ‘Nautanki’ and the accompanying logo last week(as reported here). The Great Indian Nautanki Company Private Limited (GINC), which runs the entertainment project ‘Kingdom Of Dreams’ in Gurgaon had filed a lawsuit against Viacom for infringing their trademark ‘Nautanki’. EU gaining a double benefit: Free Trade and GI protection

Image from here The EU-India Free Trade Agreement is under the scanner, as dairy-cooperative Amul has raised concerns regarding the adverse impact of reduced import duties for EU dairy products. The cooperative’s Managing Director has urged the Indian Commerce Minister to desist from accepting such terms as they would be detrimental to the interests of Indian farmers and consumers. It is feared that further reduction in import duties would enable the EU to dump subsidized products in the Indian market.

Supreme Court rejects bid by Novartis to patent Glivec

In a 112 page judgment delivered earlier this morning, a Bench of the Supreme Court, comprising of Mr. Justice Aftab Alam and Ms. Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai have upheld the rejection of the patent application (1602/MAS/1998) filed by Novartis for Glivec in 1998 before the Indian Patent Office. US Department of Justice conducts review of IPXI

The Competition Commission of India (CCI), in an order dated March 5, 2013 has dismissed, at the threshold stage, a complaint filed by a public health (HIV) activist against Gilead Inc. alleging that the company was engaged in anti-competitive activities with respect to licensing of its technologies relating to anti-HIV drugs. Bombay HC restrains the release of any trailers/teasers of Zanjeer
