Madhulika is a registered Indian patent agent and has completed her Masters in Pharmacology from the elite Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai. Her research centered on hepatoregenerative effects of natural products on acetaminophen induced oxidative damage in rats. She was fascinated by the challenges presented by the intersection of technology and law.

Shortly thereafter, she underwent training for a year at Council of Scientific and Industrial Research’s IP arm URDIP, where she worked extensively on projects involving patent mapping, landscaping, patent and scientific prior art search and analytics to identify Freedom-to-operate(white) space, prior art review for technology trend analysis, and competitive intelligence.

She then went on to work in the Intellectual property cell of a leading biotech company in Mumbai, where she gained expertise in pharmaceutical and biotechnology regulatory aspects particularly the Hatch Waxman pathway for generic drug approval, drafting patent applications, analyzing complex patents and providing strategies for circumventing patent claims, design-around approaches, invalidation opinions, non-infringement analysis.

She currently works at a law firm based out of Memphis, Tennessee. Her current profile involves providing technical advice for complex patent filings, assisting in drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications (both US and PCT) for clients.
