Interested readers of Spicy IP may be pleased to know that the International Max Planck Research School for Competition and Innovation – Legal and Economic Determinants (IMPRS-CI) has announced the opening of applications for its fourth intake.
Based in Munich, Germany, IMPRS-CI is a Research School and doctoral programme jointly offered by the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property and Competition Law, the Department of Economics, the Munich School of Management and the Faculty of Law of the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich. It contributes to high-quality interdisciplinary research at the interface of law, business administration and economics in the area of competition and intellectual property rights.
The IMPRS-CI Doctoral Programme offers eight doctoral fellowships starting in fall, 2011 for the duration of three years. The doctoral programme is offered in English with courses in intellectual property law being offered in cooperation with the Munich Intellectual Property Law Centre (MIPLC). The doctoral students are generally trained in the essentials of disciplines such as law, economics and business administration to acquire an understanding of the perspectives of their counterparts.
Qualifications: The programme is open to excellent applicants holding the equivalent of a German diploma, Master’s degree or state examination in law, economics, business administration or management. Applicants will also be required to meet all entry criteria for the respective doctoral programmes specified by the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich.
Scholarships: Each participant will be awarded a scholarship to cover his/her living expenses. Students are granted a fully equipped shared office, full access to the libraries and research facilities of the participating institutes and university departments and research funds to conduct their projects.
Selection of Candidates: The selection process is competitive, with applicants being assessed against other international applicants in order of merit. Short-listed candidates are invited to an interview in Munich.
