Join the International Trademark Association (INTA) in Barcelona, Spain in May for the INTA Annual Meeting

On Saturday, May 20 through Wednesday, May 24, global intellectual property professionals will convene in Barcelona, Spain for the 139th Annual Meeting of the International Trademark Association (INTA).  Register to join hundreds of your colleagues from India and over 9,500 intellectual property professionals from over 190 countries for five days of business development, education, networking, access to view new technological products, opportunities to meet with government officials and policy discussions.

INTA’s first meeting in Spain

May 2017 will mark INTA’s 3rd Annual Meeting in Europe as the Association continues to further advance INTA’s strategic direction of international expansion.  This meeting will present historic and unique business development opportunities marking INTA’s first time holding the Annual Meeting in the Iberian Peninsula region.  With Spain as one of the current top filers of trademark applications within the EUTM, this meeting will provide unique access to brandowners with large global trademark portfolios.  You will not want to miss the opportunity to connect with these brandowners as they chart the future of their trademark portfolios and continue to plan their trademark enforcement strategy.

Global record attendance expected

The Association expects record attendance from global trademark professionals from Europe, Asia and the United States, so this Annual Meeting will provide clear opportunities for Indian professionals looking to partner and strategically align with global trademark teams.  Traveling to Spain will be easy; logistically and financially as INTA has negotiated special travel rates for attendees using the Star Alliance Network.

Innovate educational programming

With over 300 strategic educational sessions and 225 table topics, Indian brandowners and their outside counsels will have the opportunity to hear from leading experts about key trademark policy issues and developments globally including implementation of the EU trademark reform, BREXIT and brand restrictions with updates on how these changes are affecting brandowners in varying countries.  Additionally, you won’t want to miss the Regional Update session focused on “Limits on Trademark Rights in India: Focus on Plain Packaging and Surrogate Advertisement.

Networking opportunities abound

Every hour of the Annual Meeting presents networking opportunities from the inaugural Lunch & Learn Series to the regional receptions including the India Reception.  Plan your schedule now as you will not want to miss the Opening Ceremony and Welcome Reception and the Grand Finale which will be held at Barceloneta Beach.

Additionally, the INTA Annual Meeting presents additional educational and outreach opportunities focused on certain audiences including the popular International Course on Trademarks.  Brandowners and government officials should plan to attend the exclusive Anticounterfeiting workshop titled, Strategy + Collaboration: The Key to Success Against the Crime of Counterfeiting.  Every registered attendee should plan to attend the open session with IP office officials from around the world to help shape the future of IP offices engagement with IP stakeholders.

If you plan to arrive in Barcelona early, plan to register to join INTA’s customs training session featuring corporate members who will conduct brand identification trainings with local Spanish authorities in small, interactive groups.

INTA is working on behalf of brandowners in India

In addition to the programs, the INTA Annual Meeting also provides an opportunity to learn more about the Association’s work in India, including INTA’s Annual Delegation to the country.  INTA activities in India have increasingly provided meaningful ways for brand owners and trademark practitioners in the country to have their voices heard.  INTA is excited about upcoming initiatives and partnerships in India that include collaborating on training programs, educational initiatives and participating in policy consultations.

Do not delay!  Register by Friday, March 3 and enjoy discounted registration pricing. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of one of the largest intellectual property meetings of the year!  See you in Spain!  Safe travels!
