Every year the Professor S. P. Sathe Foundation organizes three events at ILS Law College, Pune on a specific theme with a view to commemorate Prof. (Dr.) Satyaranjan Sathe’s contribution to Indian jurisprudence and social action. They include a Memorial Lecture, a National Conference, and a National Moot Court Competition. This time around, the Memorial Lecture and Conference will delve deep into the changing contours of intellectual property laws.
About Professor Dr. S. P. Sathe
This Moot is conducted by ILS Pune on an annual basis in memory of Prof. Dr. Satyaranjan Purushottam Sathe; a legendary jurist and erstwhile principal of ILS Law College, Pune. He occupied the position of Vice-President in the People’s Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) and that of President in the Maharashtra PUCL. Professor S. P. Sathe was, and remains, an authority on constitutional law and administrative law in India. He also contributed extensively to the field of legal education.
In particular, his book titled ‘Judicial Activism in India: Transgressing Borders and Enforcing Limits’ received a favorable response from the international legal fraternity. Other works authored by him include a book each on administrative law and the right to information and 100+ articles which were published by national and international legal periodicals, magazines and journals. Known for his humility, Professor Sathe endeared himself to his colleagues and students alike. His commitment to public rights and liberty was deep and abiding.
Highlights of the Conference
The National Conference endeavors to explore several aspects of the nature of and rights in intellectual property; voyaging through insightful takes on this subject by judicial minds, celebrated academicians, domain experts, legal luminaries and enthusiastic students by way of panel discussions. In addition to the panel discussions, the Conference shall also see research article presentations by students from ILS Pune. The Conference will be held between March 10, 2017 and March 12, 2017.

Participants will be provided with reading material and lunch[1]. Participation shall be in the form of attendance and interaction in sessions. Participants may not submit research papers for presentation.

Accordingly, successful registrants are mandatorily required to use the CourseID in making the online payment.
