The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) in association with the USPTO will be organizing a number of road shows between the 3rd and 30th of September aimed at promoting awareness of the G.I rights.
The first of such shows will be held in the tribal areas of the North East, Kota and Bhubhaneshwar
These road shows on GI will be a first of its kind in the country and will help to reach out to Various Stakeholders of Geographical Indication in the Country. The objectives of this road show will be to Create Awareness about GI’s as one form of Intellectual Property and to protect traditional products which are open to copying and imitation, a CII release said.
These road shows will be an opportunity for various stakeholders of GI and producer groups from potential products of GI to showcase their success stories and discuss on the road map for collaborative work on potential GI’s of India.
This is off topic.. however it is related to copyright/intellectual property.
One of my pictures from my flickr stream was used by TOI in one of its supplements without my permission and without any credit or compensation. On confronting them and asking for compensation and credit, TOI offered me a puny sum (nowhere near what I value my work) and told me to take legal action if that’s not suitable.
I m planning to do so and have also blogged about it all here –

Would appreciate if you could spread the word.
