Happy New Year from the SpicyIP team

The SpicyIP team wishes all of you a very warm and pleasant year ahead.

IP in India has seen an exciting year go past, and if December signs are anything to go by, there is plenty more coming ahead, be it in the form of legislative changes, or cases waiting to be decided by the courts, or administrative transformations that will make the Indian system at par with the best in the world.

As in the past, we hope to continue to bring you news and information about these changes, and along the way, learn and understand how these developments will impact the larger system, whether domestic or international.

On the website front, we would like to remind you of an exciting new initiative launched recently called CLam, or Collaborative Law Making, which attempts to create an online space for public participation in law making, analogous to the open source and open access initiatives that are already popular in other domains.

In the months to come, the team will try to broaden its coverage on IP, including reportage on relevant issues that are increasingly becoming mainstream, such as innovation and traditional knowledge. We will also try to bring you an increasing number of guest posts by authorities in the field — not just because we note that several of you enjoy the ‘break’ from the monotony of the team’s drone (!), but also because the experts bring exciting new perspectives to the table, which invigorate our virtual conversations that much more!

For all of this and more, we are continually grateful to you for actively engaging us in conversation, whether in person, on email, or through comments on the blog, and for helping to critically explore and analyse the evolutions that are taking place in Indian IP. We do hope you will continue to do so in the times to come, and that together we shall be able to make the Indian IP world as interesting as the proverbial cookie portends!

Thank you again, and greetings once more. We’ll be seeing you!
