The National Law School of India Review is the bi-annual flagship journal of the National Law School of India University, Bangalore. Founded in 1988, the mandate of the Review is to encourage interest in legal writing. No topic of legal significance is beyond the purview for consideration. In the past, contributors to the Review have included justices of the Indian Supreme Court, senior advocates, leading academics and students from India and abroad. The contemporary relevance of publications, depth of legal analysis, and consistent quality and eminence of contributors, has over the years made the Review one of the most respected legal journals in India.
Keeping with this trend, past issues of the NLSIR have featured contributions by luminaries such as Justices P. P. Naolekar, S. B. Sinha and A. R. Lakshmanan, Mr. Gourab Banerji, Mr. V. Umakanth and Mr. Shamnad Basheer. The most recent issue of the NLSIR, Volume 22(1), featured contributions by former Chief Justice of India, Justice K. G. Balakrishnan, Professor James B. Jacobs of New York University, and Justice Michael Kirby, former Judge, High Court of Australia. Moreover, in August 2009, NLSIR attained the unique distinction of being the only Indian student-run law journal to be cited by the Supreme Court of India, in Action Committee, Un-Aided Private Schools v. Director of Education. More details about the journal are available here.
