Allahabad High Court gives Plain Packaging of Cigarettes a go-ahead

Plain packaging received a smokin’ thumbs up from the Allahabad High Court in July 2014. The Allahabad HC allowed a writ petition asking for implementation of plain packaging and directed the government to implement the scheme at the earliest. Dandi Salt v. Union of India: Copyright Board may consider Review Applications

Justice Vibhu Bakhru of the Delhi High Court recently passed an order stating that the Registrar of Copyrights does not have the power to adjudicate upon the merits of an application preferred by the Copyright Board, and that the Copyright Board may review its own decisions. CCI penalises Google for non-disclosure of information; fines it one crore rupees
